Although monasteries have been constructed outside Tibet since 1959, nunneries are still rare. To that effect, the Foundation is supporting the Sakya Nunnery Project in Northern India, recently built on land donated by the Ngor Ewam Institute. While this project is completed, on-going support is needed to provide for the nuns' living expenses and education. Nuns studying at the Sakya nunnery The Foundation also aims to provide help to Sakya monasteries and colleges throughout South Asia and facilitates the travel outside of Asia of established teachers so Buddhist centers throughout the world can benefit from these highly educated masters. |
